Sea Breeze Art Gallery Show, Ventura

The Sea Breeze Art Gallery will exhibit "Hear Them Calling," paintings by featured artists Edward K. Hudson and Rebecca Riel.

An established artist, animator, and art director in the computer gaming industry, Edward has created traditional figurative oil paintings over 20 years. Recently he chose to pursue his painting full time. In contrast to his commercial work, Edward creates large, historical, period pieces.

Edward Hudson says of his work: "I have always felt a connection to the past and a passion for the people and events that came before. My painting experience creates a connection with other times and people - a moment in time, a snapshot, a relationship with the subject - many of which come from old forgotten photographs."

Rebecca Riel, inspired by the luminosity of the early 20th Century California Impressionists, captures the light, textures, and rich natural life of the Southwest in her acrylic paintings.

Love of the natural world and fascination with its details have always been a focus in Rebecca's work. As a professional illustrator, she has honed her abilities to capture nature's light and forms, from expansive vistas to the delicate minutia of an insect's wing.

Rebecca Riel says of her work: “I want to capture the crisp air of an incoming storm, the smell of far-away places in the wind, the rain in distant sage.”

Although differing in subject matter and medium, Edward and Rebecca share their studio space as well as their common interest in days gone-by.

Please join the Sea Breeze Art Gallery and resident studio artists as we celebrate Edward and Rebecca's Artist Reception on Saturday April 29, 2006, 5pm - 9pm.

Also on Saturday, join us in Spring Artwalk 2006, from 1pm - 9pm. Over 150 Ventura County artists will exhibit work at more than 60 downtown locations, plus 20 performances. A free shuttle provides transportation to the Sea Breeze Art Gallery.

Sea Breeze Art Gallery is located within the downtown cultural district at 255 South Laurel Street (between Thompson & Front Street just up the street from The Wharf) in Ventura, California.

For more information and details contact the Sea Breeze Art Gallery at 805.643.3973.
